Markets for ancillary services

The markets for ancillary services will play an increasingly important role in balancing the electricity system. Previously, it was the large central power plants that provided ancillary services. But now many of them are being closed, and others will have to take over. This is happening at the same time as the need for ancillary services is increasing.

There are therefore a number of new players entering the markets for ancillary services. The area is complicated, which prevents many from participating. The market is therefore left to a few professional players. That is OK, but it is also important that those who outsource their market submissions to the professional players themselves have knowledge of how their units can provide the services.

Strategirummet has set out to contribute to increasing understanding of the markets for ancillary services, and to give interested parties the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with submissions to the various markets.
